The many climbs in The Kirkjubøur Race didn't give any good ideas for the riders. No riders attacked the entire stage through. When the final climb was near, the strongest riders settled themselves in front of the peloton. KAS KASKOL took a confident lead, supporting Bruno Jucca. The devistating tempo set by KAS KASKOL crushed rider by rider. When Bruno Jucca ran out of supporting riders, he had only 3 other competitors to beat. One of them, Willis Stearns (Team Guinness), launched a quick attack and managed to sit a lone in front for a short time. He only had Bruno Jucca and Lillian Hauchecorne (CC Chelsea) behind him now. Willis Stearns could not keep the tempo high, and eventually, both Bruno Jucca and Lillian Hauchecorne passed him by.
Lillian Hauchecorne launched the sprint, but Bruno Jucca outrunned him and became the winner.
The climbs today were tough, but I felt good all day, said Bruno Jucca after winning. I loved the ending of the stage. It was when I saw the ending of the route I knew that I could win. It was perfect for me.
The stage couldn't turn out any better than this. Bruno Jucca did a perfect job today, said Orrutio, manager of KAS KASKOL, after the race.
